Around 200 workers employed by Nsimbi Mining Services, a subcontractor at Vulcan’s Moatize coal mine in Mozambique’s Tete province, have launched a strike 28 April demanding three months of unpaid wages covering February to April 2025. This is the second walkout linked to salary delays, despite earlier promises of payment. With operations already halted for nearly two months due to pending equipment procurement, the protesting workers say they will remain at the site until they are paid. Efforts by labor authorities and police to mediate have not resolved the standoff, and the company remains publicly silent.
