Core Natural Resources announced a delay in restarting longwall operations at its Leer South mine, now expected in Q4 2025. After re-entering the sealed section in early June and finding equipment largely intact, operations were halted again on June 26 due to elevated carbon monoxide levels. Remedial work is underway, including the reinstatement of pumpable seals. Cleanup and repositioning of the longwall system is estimated to take up to four months. Despite the delay, Core reaffirmed its 2025 sales volume guidance and expects to recover over $100 million through insurance coverage. Further updates are due in August.
