Anglo American has reaffirmed its 2025 steelmaking coal production guidance at 10–12 million tonnes, signaling confidence in the recovery of its Moranbah mine despite a recent underground incident. The company completed re-entry to the mine on April 19 following a controlled withdrawal after a minor ignition on March 31. Production remains suspended, but no changes were made to the full-year output forecast, which excludes the Grosvenor and Jellinbah operations. Anglo's stance suggests it expects regulatory clearance and production ramp-up at Moranbah in the near term, aligning with its broader divestment strategy.

In Q1 2025, Anglo produced 2.24 Mt of steelmaking coal, down 8% quarter-on-quarter. Sales totaled 1.63 Mt, while HCC averaged $172/t and PCI $141/t.
